Disaster Recovery

SUMMER 2009…HERE WE COME!

HE IS RISEN!  Another Easter has come and gone –– and another hurricane season is right around the corner.  Can you believe it?  I can’t and I don’t really want to give it much attention!  Maybe if I ignore it, it will just go away.  You know – no evacuations, no “it might hit us,” no direct hit – nothing!

“Though he stumbles, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.” Psalm 37:24

While the above statistics are useful, and even essential to the “bean counters” amongst us, they don’t tell the whole story.  To families affected by Rita and Ike, these numbers mean recovery.  Assisted by caring, servant-minded volunteers from many different places, they have been able to return to their homes.  Praise God!!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3:5, 6

*Rita completed homes:        701                        *Ike completed homes:         49

Hundreds of volunteers will bear the Texas heat this summer to help in the ongoing recovery efforts.  Please pray for safe travel, safety on the job sites and health for these servants.  And, of course, pray for an uneventful hurricane season!
