The past
couple of days have been full days. Friday, the team arrived at the
work site ready to put in a full mornings work before leaving Beaumont.
The roof team pounded nails, and yes, pulled out a few, wove shingles
into the valleys (that's what one does when there is a change in roof
angles) and finished sheetrock in the house. We were sad that we did
not completely finish the roof, but we were close. We have blackened
bottoms of our jeans due to being on the roof for five days! Many of us
should have left our pants in Beaumont. |

We left
Beaumont about 2:30 and headed to San Antonio. We had a few unplanned
side trips due to map errors and directional challenges, but we made it
to the Methodist Mission Home in San Antonio. We hoped to visit the
Riverwalk, but the weather was drizzly and we arrive too late to squeeze
in another adventure. So, a good night's rest was in the plan, and we
did have that!
Travel on
Saturday was good with lots of visiting and napping. We arrived back in
Las Cruces about 6:15. It was a long day of traveling, but all went
well. |

You all would be proud of the Wesley mission team.
They worked together well; met challenges with the right spirit and even
when the two f's (food and fun) challenged us, the decisions made were
ok with everyone. Serving God is easy. It is only hard when our own
desires for what we want get in the way and cause strife, but very
little of this happened with this team! Each team member left with new
skills, new close friends, self-confidence, and a sense of satisfaction
because each spent their spring break helping those in need. It was an
honor and privilege to be able to travel with them and to see God at
work through them. |
