...a faith based organization of the United Methodist Church, helping families recover from Hurricane Rita.

Rebuilding one house can make a difference!  That one house repaired helps a family move back into their HOME.

Many families show they are thankful that their home has been repaired  by telling everyone "Thank you" a number of times.  Other families have asked specifically about their volunteer teams, and for their church addresses, so that they can write to them telling the teams how much it means to them that they are living in their own home again.

At Rita Recovery, we were blessed with a note from one of the homeowner's whose home was repaired.  The homeowner wrote to Rita Recovery:

I want to "Thank you" so much for my new roof.  They put it on Friday and it rained Saturday and Sunday.  It was really good, hard showers - and I didn't have a leak.  I think God was just giving it his own blessing and baptized it.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED (for Edwina's Home)!

To the Mission Team all those who heard of a need, “adopted” our Mother, and volunteered to assist in the restoration of her home after Hurricane Rita destroyed it:

After losing her home and most of its contents and memorabilia, the Lord called her husband, our precious step-father, home to Heaven.

At a time of such loss and such a feeling of helplessness on our part, you gave our Mother (and those who love her) hope and a will to keep going as God intended.

“Thank you” does not begin to describe the gratitude and thankfulness we all feel.  We appreciate the time you spent working and thank your families for their patience in your diligence to help our Mother.

Mother says there are no words to describe how she feels except to say this:

“Everyday we will lift up in prayer each of you, Pastor Rick, and the whole Woodcrest congregation for your love and selfless service to God.  We pray for special blessings for each of you, your home and household, in the precious Name of Jesus.”

Edwina, Elizabeth, Butch, Janet, Bill, Joe, Bambi, and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren

P.S.  We will announce the date of a “house blessing” and honor the volunteers at a later time.  TO GOD GOES THE GLORY!
