...a faith based organization of the United Methodist Church, helping families recover from Hurricane Rita.

As the one year mark for when Hurricane Rita struck approaches, some people are looking forward to celebrating and forgetting about the natural disaster.  Unfortunately, for many people in Southeast Texas, there will be no celebration.  There are still blue tarps over their home and rain leaking through their roof.  The one year mark is a more stressful time for these families.  There are so many families that are still in need of assistance and undoubtedly, reaching the one year mark is making many of these families wonder if they will move back into their home, or if other people now assume that life has returned to normal for the families and the homes that were effected by Hurricane Rita.  With this one year mark, we are still looking for more people to volunteer to help repair these individuals' homes.  Every volunteer helps to ease the stress and worry for these families because they can see that there really are people out there that are helping them.  The volunteers give these people hope that someday they may be able to return to their home.  These pictures show some of the homes that are still damaged with tarps on the roofs nearly one year after Hurricane Rita struck.
