...a faith based organization of the United Methodist Church, helping families recover from Hurricane Rita.

Tuesday

Today was a great day on the roof. Instead of splitting up into 3 groups, all of us worked together on the same house, taking off and putting back on the roof. It was a beautiful day outside, for which we are thankful! Only two of the 13 knew how to put on shingles, so the rest of us were taught how to put them on...and now we all know how to fix a roof! We have almost finished one side of the roof, and have started putting shingles on the other side. We have some wonderful leaders that work with the

organization we are helping.  They know a whole lot about construction and are very supportive and encourage us to learn and try new things. They already know all our names! Also, we had a very cute friend visit out work site today...a Possum! It was pretty big and cute! It sat on the fence and watched us take old shingles off the roof for a long time.

The wonderful church ladies made us lasagna for dinner tonight.  It was the best tasting lasagna we've probably ever had (maybe because we had worked so hard today). We ate dinner with the group from Delaware and got to know them better.  We really enjoy their company.

Tomorrow some of us are going to continue to roof and others are going to go to another neighborhood to chainsaw branches off trees!
