...a faith based organization of the United Methodist Church, helping families recover from Hurricane Rita.

Wednesday

It was a beautiful day in Beaumont today.  Today, a select four of Wesley individuals went to Ms. D's house to take care of a tree problem she had.  There was an oak on top of her kitchen and through her carport.  This oak was gigantic.  The girth of the tree was about 50 ft. give or take a foot...huge.  The day was spent cleaning small
bramble and moving large logs.  The bramble was to be taken to the landfill and the logs were going to a good home.  The four people of this team consisted of Tori, Sam, Shea, and Heath.  Tori and Shea learned how to use an axe.  Shea had her turn at the chainsaw.  Sam was the chainsaw master.  Heath was a jack-of-all-trades.  A unique experience was had by Heath and Sam when they were able to use a two-man saw.

We all had an education in the local critters that live in old leaves and wood.  There were grub, lizards, geckos, stick bugs, camouflaged spiders, and more. Also, there was tree mold and lichen growth. There were a few near death experiences with falling timber/chainsaws, but nobody was hurt.  We had no worries there.

The rest of the Wesley team continued to roof the same house, and made much progress.  All of our team was sore from their long day.  We came home to have Barbeque chicken that was cooked by one of the churches best chefs.  All the fixen's were quite scrumptious.

Tomorrow is a half day of continued roofing.  The other half is some relaxation in the local vicinity (meaning a day at the beach).
